Alvino Rios, 88, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on May 2, 2018 at his home.
He was born January 1, 1930 in Knox City, Texas to Marcelino and Clotilde Rios.
Alvino worked throughout California and Texas, finally settling in Colorado. In his youth, he worked as a migrant farm laborer along with his family. As an adult, Alvino worked in construction and sheet rock laying, his final employment being at Swift Restaurant in Denver, Colorado, where he finally retired.
Alvino loved his family and many friends. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially gambling at Central City, watching wrestling, and hunting for game. He loved music and dancing, and he loved to help others, as he enjoyed socializing with people.
He is survived by his siblings, Juana R. De La Fuente of Platteville, Colorado, Domingo Rios of Dallas Texas, Frank and Martin Rios of Denver, Colorado, Leonardo and Amelia Rios of Greeley, Colorado, Maria Elena Garcia of Gilcrest, Colorado, and Lilly Rizo of Odessa, Texas.
Martin claimed after the game he didn't hear Rios call for the ball, and yes, the center fielder (Martin) is supposed to have the right of way on all outfield balls he thinks he can get to. Rios has had his fair share of botched plays this season, including a couple of time when he's just dropped routine fly balls.
